Mastering the Layers

A layering system is the smartest way to make your clothing work most efficiently. With layering, you can not only build combinations suited to your preferred temperature but also remove layers if it warms up later in the day.

Mastering the layering system is simple. Once you understand it, you’ll never go back to heavy, insulated clothing that can easily overheat you or leave you cold due to its lack of versatility.

Use the layers in different combinations to achieve optimal comfort in the temperatures and weather conditions you’ll be hunting in. Refer to this table to learn how to combine layers for various conditions.

The desired temperature ranges are listed on the left side, and each layer is labeled across the top. If a layer is recommended in a particular combination, its number is highlighted. For example, if you’re hunting in 14°F (-10°C), you’ll want to wear layers 2, 4, and 5.
When paired with 6OL as an outer layer, you can use one less layer or a layer with lower insulation.

1-st Hunting Underwear

The first hunting Underwear Layer, which we call 1UL, is made primarily from bamboo fiber and absorbs moisture 200% more efficiently than cotton. This layer keeps you dry from the start, so you stay comfortable all day.

2nd Hunting Base layer

The second layer, called the hunting Base Layer (2BL), features an inner bamboo fiber surface for maximum moisture absorption combined with 15 µm Merino wool on the outer surface for the fastest moisture evaporation. This unique pairing technology surpasses typical 17.5-18µm Merino base layers by 50%, keeping you warmer without the chill of damp fabric.

3rd Hunting Mid-layer

The third layer, our hunting Mid-Layer (3ML), made of 18µm Merino-Bamboo fleece, continues this trend with a similar natural fiber structure, synergy and efficiency. Compared to mid-layers made with thicker 20µm Merino wool, this layer offers over 70% more efficiency in moisture management. It’s like your own personal thermostat, enhancing warmth and breathability.

4th Hunting Insulation Layer

The fourth layer is the Hunting Insulation Layer, which we call 4IL. Featuring 1000-fill-power down—the most efficient insulation on the market—it delivers 43% more warmth than standard 700-fill down. Ultralightweight yet exceptionally warm, it is engineered for maximum heat retention without the bulk.

The unique seamless tube fabric is crafted with an extremely high-density weave to deliver exceptional breathability, downproofing, and stretch—without relying on the coatings commonly used by others that compromise airflow.

5th Ultralight Waterproof Layer

The fifth waterproof layer, known as 5WL, is an ultralight Outer Layer featuring a cutting-edge membrane with 32,000 g/m²/24h breathability.
