So, I decided to feature a video about the Stoeger M3500 from the Pilot Patriot Channel, because as this is also my first duck hunting season, after a thorough research I decided that this is a great waterfowl shotgun to mark my start with! Affordable, yet exceptionally effective! It is built primarily for duck hunting and waterfowl hunting enthusiasts like you, so check this amazing video and appreciate this beast!

Now when you have the overall idea, the superstar duck hunting shotgun, now comes the turn for on Duck Calling Tips from the National Duck Calling Champ Jim King! I enjoyed this one very much, as you can observe and grasp duck calling in action, out on the field, and then the calls are broken down into different situations. You gain perception on how to listen to ducks, how to read their actions, their sounds and their body language. Watch the full video here and enjoy!

Now this one stuck out and made an impression on me, as it is not some happy hunting video where everything goes smooth and according to plan. Fowled Reality Duck and Goose Hunting. This is a real-life duck hunting situation on public land, in which despite the occasional challenges and the intense heat, the boys turned their luck around, adjusted to the situation and demonstrated real skills and patience! Sometimes you will experience some tough circumstances and extreme weather conditions but expecting the unexpected and adapting to the situation becomes an instinct to those dedicated waterfowl experts! How to overcome them and how to play the patience game? Here is the video that will show you:

Last but not least, this is a video again from the boys from Fowled Reality Duck and Goose Hunting. It’s about duck hunting in different water sources and the strategies you need to design on decoy spreading, duck calling and tips on how to lure your catch accordingly!

FAQs

Why even spend time on waterfowl hunting videos before the season?

Because there is a difference between knowing the basics and seeing how those basics fall apart in real conditions. A guide can tell you where decoys should go or when to call. A video shows what happens when the birds do not follow the script. That part is usually more useful.

Are these videos actually good for beginners?

Some are. Some really are not. A slick edit with dramatic music and a pile of birds at the end can be entertaining, but it does not always teach much. The better videos leave in the slower parts. You see the waiting, the adjustments, sometimes the frustration. For a beginner, that is often where the lesson is.

What should I be watching for?

Not the shot first. Watch everything leading up to it. How the hunters hide. Whether they move too much. Whether the spread looks tight or loose. How long they stay with the same plan before changing something. Those details tell you more than the ending does.

Do duck calling videos really help?

They can, yes. But only when the person doing the calling explains what is happening. Without that, it is easy to watch ten minutes of calling and come away with nothing except a few sounds in your head. The useful part is the reason behind the call.

Why do public-land videos usually feel more useful?

Because they tend to feel more honest. Birds get pressured. Other hunters show up. The setup is not perfect. The first plan sometimes goes nowhere. That looks a lot closer to real hunting than the kind of video where every flock finishes beautifully and nobody seems to make a bad decision all morning.

Can videos actually make someone better in the field?

Not by themselves. Time outside still matters more. But they can help a hunter start noticing things earlier. Bad movement. Poor timing. Calling that goes on too long. A setup that looked fine until the wind shifted. That kind of pattern recognition is useful, and good videos can sharpen it.
